Combining the correct Control Pro Tip with your Control Pro gun plays a big role in helping you create the professional finish your job demands. Not only does the tip determine how much fluid will leave the gun when you pull the trigger, the spray tip also determines how wide a spray fan the gun will create.
These HEA Tips are for use with Control Pro Machines only for they provided a perfect surface finish at reduced spraying pressure. Compared to standard airless technology the spray pattern is gently feathered and free from hard edges.

Choosing your tip:
Choose a tip with an orifice size rated for the paint or coating you’ll be spraying. Light coatings such as lacquers, stains, and enamels require a small tip, while heavier coatings such as texture require larger spray tips. Remember it is always best to check what your paint recommends as well as what your Paint Sprayer is rated for, when choosing any tip.
Size the spray tip according to the tip rating of your sprayer. Make sure that the sprayer can support the tip you are planning to use. If you plan on using multiple spray guns on your job, pick a tip size that matches the multiple gun tip rating of your sprayer.
What does the number mean on the tip?
- The first number, when multiplied by 2, tells you how wide of a fan the tip will create when sprayed at a distance of 30cm from the surface.
- The second two numbers are the orifice size of the tip, in thousandths of an inch, that determines how much fluid will leave the spray tip.
- A 515 tip will give you a spray fan pattern 10 inches wide (2 x 5) when the sprayer is approximately 12 inches (30 cms) from the surface.
- A 315 tip will produce a 6-inch wide spray fan
- A 413 tip will produce an 8 inch and so on.
When to replace your Tip?
- A new tip should produce a soft, thinner coated edge around the spray fan.
- As the tip wears, this soft edge will become more defined and the fan size will decrease. You’ll start using more paint for the same area coverage and the spray pattern will be more uneven.
